Supply Update – What’s Fresh?

Supply of South Australia’s Boston Bay and Spencer Gulf mussels is strong and now boasts an even greater selection of lease areas to harvest premium quality mussels in the highest state of condition.

Goolwa PipiCo have had trouble harvesting pipis after wild weather and extremely cold water temperatures, but hope that harvesting will return to normal in the next 1-2 weeks.

This year’s Champion award winning aquaculture fish at the Sydney Royal Show, QLD Giant Grouper 3kg+ size supply is on the rise. These make an excellent fillet and cutlet fish. The 600g to 1kg size range is stable and at full capacity at the moment.

Bidgee Fresh Murray Cod from Griffith NSW, is fully allocated at present but the farm is planning to increase supply volumes later in the year.

Zippel’s Smoky Bay Oysters from South Australia are in exceptional condition, however they have limited supply to take on new customers. Ironstone Oysters from Tasmania will resume supply during August.

The following Rock Oyster farms are currently in production – XL Oysters (Port Stephens), Armstrong Oysters (Camden Haven), Cole Brothers Oysters (Port Stephens) and Hunter Valley Oysters (Port Stephens). August supply volumes will be restricted, with more farms to come on and supply to improve from September.

The Clyde River, NSW, has good supply of BIG pacific oysters. We are talking from 135g to 500g per oyster, and we should see our available volumes grow over the coming month.
